About

I started writing songs about eight years ago. At the time I was playing in a band called First After the Fire, and we'd reached the point where we wanted to play our own music. I had no idea how to write a song, but slowly, melodic and lyrical ideas started coming to me. I found that if I paid attention to them they would continue to present themselves until a song took shape. How a song comes into existence is a magical thing, really, something I can't fully explain, nor do I think I would want to. Even though you have to work for most of them, they still feel like gifts.

I live on a mountainside just outside Nelson, BC. Where I live and where I've been inspire many of the songs I write.

With First After the Fire, other musical friends, and on my own I've played my songs in bars and restaurants, at fishing derbies, farmers markets, festivals and house concerts. I've also played on a lot of street corners in cities across Canada. It always feels good.
